mb quart....to buy or not to buy , i have been seriously thinking about buying some MB quart Q series 218's (6.5's) and have been repeatedly told by my friend who has been installing car stero equip for almost a decade that MB quart sucks........and that i should save my money and get something else........damn....i dont know what to think, thats why im posting.....also my roomie loves mb quart and knows my friend but he loves mb quart but lacks the expert credentials, but he can make a system sound great...i dont know what to think...

i have a set of mb quart QM 218.61 that i havent installed yet, but my friend has them in his monte carlo and his car sounds like a mobile concert. the vocals are really clear. the only thing i didnt really like about them was that the highs were too high. you have to do some eq tunning to get the tweeters to be a little more ear friendly.

those are one of the best brands on the market....they are great speakers, the sound quality is at a completly different level from all other speakers. Sure there are better companies out there like focal and dyn audio, but MB quart is some quality ****.
I highly recomend their stuff.

I also have to agree that they sound a little too "bright" and can cause fatigue (your ears get tired) when played at moderate to high volume. They aren't the easiest to listen to at higher volumes (unlike a/d/s, Boston).
If you're looking to spend the dough you should definitely listen to a few other high quality components. Boston, a/d/s, focal, diamond, etc have very strong followings......but everyone has different taste in music and sound. What sounds amazing to one, can sound like **** to others
By the way....I love Boston Acoustics.....the Z series rocks!!

I think the Q series from MBQ are awesome, when I did my system I narrowed it down to the Q's, Alpine SPX's and a sweet set of boston's. I ultimately went with the Alpine's but would go with any of the ones I just mentioned. The brightness of the MBQ's I feel can be compared more closely with the Boston's but any of that can be tuned with a good eq and right Xover settings. I do agree with acarguy the Z series are freakin sweet!!
