Infinity 6000cs component speaker install..
So far I have only done 1 door, I know its sad but I had some issues with trying to get the stupid cold heat soldering thing to work, in the end it did not so I ended up making 2 trips to kragen to get spade connectors.
I started out last night around 5:30pm after the rain let up.
Got the door panel off the passenger side, had issues with that stupid retainer on the door lever, more on this later.
I got the speaker out then made a template on 1/2" MDF, cut it, test fit, went back and cut some more.
Once it was good, I made another spacer for the drivers side, then sanded them both down.
Put black silicone on the back of each spacer to reduce vibration noise against the metal.
I then used an exacto blade to cut the round wall off the door panel, and a couple of the rough edges on the back grill area.
Mounted the cross over boxes to the back of the door panel towards the back above the triangle shaped foam, this is the only really safe place to put it but requires running more wire.
Next I hit the tweeter. ;D
Unscrew the 2 screws holding the mounting bracket, then unscrew the screw that connects the tweeter to the bracket.
Used more black silicon to help that tweeter stay on, screwed bracket back on.
Using random spade connectors I found in the garage and @ kragen, I ran a pair of wires from the tweeter to the cross over, a pair from the woofer to the crossover, and finally a pair from the cross over to the stock plug that the OEM speaker plugged in to.
put the door panel back on, tested it out, sounded good, went in the house around 11pm to warm up, watched TV, then went to bed.
Pictures to come tonight/tomorrow from the drivers side door.
