i can't help you on the HID install but if you look under your glove box right above the kick panel next to the door molding you will see a green 10 pin connector(i think it was green could be brown though). disconnect that and walla no more DRL. i reached up there with my medium size hands to disconnect it. if you have big hands remove the glove box i think there are 11 screws and definantly you will see it.

it is cutting out the main relay to your DRLs so nope nothing negative besides no more DRLs. if you noticed when you turn on your head lights a click noise comes from down there. that is the relay in action.

which would be the better way to go,

the glove box or under boost control stuff ??

i have taken out the one under the hood but i saw a mod on scoobymods where the guy ran a wire through the connecter under the box, he confused me in why he was doing it but i was wondering if it was becasue he had problems with just disconnection the resistor unit.

both ways work except if you got with HIDs. i did the under dash one since i didn't have to take out any tools and don't have to worry about loose connects in my engine bay.

as for that wire it is so he can turn on his fogs with just the parking lights on. normally the fogs can only be turned on with the driving lights only.

it is a novelty item i guess.

oops i'm sorry i miss read that tutorial. i was wondering why he plugs back in the harness. okay to sum it up i think his DRLs are still active but when his fogs are on his DRLs are also on so this way his DRLs will be off when his fogs are on. since he likes to have his DRLs on during the day and not on when his fogs are on in the mornings.
