help me complete my sound system. -- need suggestions for 10" sub and amplifiers.

Finally got around to upgrading my sound system in my 2004 wrx wagon. I just need suggestions for a pair of amps and a sub (that fits my box) to complete my system that would compliment my components well. My music preferences are jazz and blues with occassional hip-hop. Quality of sound is most important to me. Looking to spend between $800 and $1000 for the sub and amps.

Here's what I have so for:

Head Unit: Alpine CDA-9835
Front speakers: 6.5" Alpine SPX-177A components
Rear fill: stock powered off head unit
Sub Box: evolutionauto 10" wagon enclosure http://www.need4speedpower.com/album...box3.thumb.jpg

Specs on the subwoofer box:
volume of my enclosure is .9 cu ft, with a maximum woofer depth of 7".

Specs on the component speakers:
75 Watts RMS ; 300 Watts Peak

I think what I'll need is the following:

- a 2-channel amp to power my components (but with a little more power in case I plan to upgrade the speakers in the future).

- a good-sounding 10" subwoofer (doesn't have to shake the car, just add depth to my music), that will thrive in 0.9 cubic feet, with a maximum mounting depth of 7"

- a mono amp for the sub, that has an appropriate amount of power.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions!

- Joe

why not just get a four chanel amp and bridge the rear two chanels to run the sub. If your amp will be 75 by four that means the rear two bridged will pump 300 watts to the sub. For amps I like PPI, Phoenix Gold, and JL. As far as subs I don't have any recomendations but looks for something that will hit as low as 20 hZ.

i have the evolutionauto enclosure as well. i suggest you audition this combo...

jl audio 10w6v2
jl audio 500/1 amp

it's loud, clean, and tight....all in one package!

***oops, didn't read the thread carefully. you're looking for an amp for the components as well. go with yet a separate amp if you can spare the money. if not...

jl 10w3v2
jl 500/5 (100x2 to fronts, 25x2 to rears, and 250w to sub)
get a set of low priced coaxials for rear fill

I am right here with dough..big supporter of JL.

a 10w6v2 runs off 400watts rms.

personally if you are gonna go the one amp route I don't think you need rear speakers. spend the $75 bucks you were gonna spend on those and get a nicer set of front stage speakers.

What I have.

JL300/4 to 6.5 CDT 62HD (Carbon fiber model)...with this I am wasting 2 channels so you could get a 300/2 instead if your speakers can handle 150rms.

JL 500/1 powering a single 10w7.

That's it man.

You may also choose to go all Alpine if you want. They are pretty reasonable and do a pretty decent job and the Type R series will fit your .9 box. I ran alpine amps a while back and never had one problem with them.

The JL's may not. The 10w6v2 take .65 the w7 needs 1-1.4

you could always poly fill your box as well...mine is.

Here's my advice...

1.Research subs and amps.

2.Get necessary cash.

3.Go into CarToys with about 4 0r 500 dollars less than what you know you need.

4.Because you brought cash, they will almost always give you a huge discount.
