Help with double din radio
After having my car for 3 year my stock radio decided to not work anymore. So here's my chance to take advantage of the situation and buy myself a double din radio. My problem is that I don't know too much about double dins so i need help find some good radios but not too expensive. Any suggestions?

I think it all depends on what you want the unit to do; some units offer better functionality then others regarding:
GPS (obviously the unit will be cheaper without GPS)
IPOD
DVD
Satellite Radio
Phone Bluetooth
USB / SD card funcionality
Do you prefer Full touch screen or partial?
I would check out the crutchfield website just to see the different type of models that are out there (crutchfield is pricey though but their website provides alot of product detail).
I would say pic 2-3 models then check the amazon website for the cheapest prices. I would also research the models on the net, look into some forums for reviews and opinions and any known issues (FYI: I was looking into a double din screen for a few months before I really decided; I was in no rush at the time to buy it though, but you figure put the time in to research if you're gonna shell out a few hundred $$$).
My priority was a good GPS platform and IPOD functionality. My 2 choices were the Pioneer 900bt and the Kenwood DNX6140.
The pioneer was about $800 on average at different stores; amazon has the unit for about $579 right now. The problem with the unit is the boot up time and access time with the IPOD, even after the firmware update.
In the end, i went with the Kenwood DNX6140. I posted a review on a different thread. On average, this unit goes for about $1000 but with a coupon code, i got it for $734 through 6 ave electronics. It uses the GARMIN GPS which i really like which was one of the deciding factors for me.
