door speakers for WRX
i'll been looking around but apparently you can only get 4" speakers in the back door for the WRX?
i've heard you can get spacers for the front doors to eventually fit 6 1/2
how do i get some of these or could i possibly make them my own? anyone got pics for their speakers?
reply or email me at phatstud@excite.com
thanks

size isnt always a factor. You can get a 5" speaker that owns a 6.5" anyday. Check out the Boston Acoustics Pro 5's. If you can afford them, the Z series are incredible. You can get spacers made to fit a 6.5". My suggestion would be to go to your local subaru dealership and purchase 2 door panels off of them. Go to a good quality 12v installer in your area and have them custom make a fitting for a 6.5" in your doors currently. If you ever have to get rid of the car, just slap the newly purchased door panels in and take out the ones that are cut up.

dont sacrifice quality for $$ dude. Sony speakers blow. Stick with the polks if you are working off of CC discount. Although, now that you guys are salary it might be tough Sorry I had to Good luck with your choice, out of those brands, stick with the Polks. Just make sure they have CLEAN power running to them.

Component Speakers
I have JL Audio 61/2" Compenent speakers in the front and MB Quartz 5" in the back. The Front speaker magnet fits with about 1/4" to clear the window when rolled all the way down. I had my system installed by Custom Car Alarms in Pleasant Hill CA. The made spacers pretty quickly to fit them in the door. I also had to have all four doors dyno matted because the plastic was vibrating too much. You also need to put a spacer in from to the speaker because the speaker vibrates on the cheesy door panel.
I have to say my system sound pretty sweet.
Pioneer 8400 XM/WMA/MP3
Pioneer DSP 15 Band Digital EQ
500Watt Fosgate Amp
240Watt Pionneer Amp for Sub
JL Audio W3 Sub enclosed in Sealed box
Pioneer XM Radio w/Stealth Antennae
I have the brand new stock 6disk head unit for sale. $100 SOLD!

but anyways, i want the momos of course, heard them with a 75x2 alpine amp, very tight and nice. but did you see those mods on that door? dont know anyone around my area that would do something like that. plus it'd cost like a **** most likely!

I listened to the Momo component set at circuit city and was not impressed, though they were worlds better than the Momo subwoofers which are beautiful but sound terrible. I too am shopping for the components. I've been comparing MB Quart's PSD 216 6.5" component set, vs. Boston Acoustics Rally series 6.5" components vs. Kicker's 6.5" components.
IMHO
Sony components = crap
Infinity = Overrated, overpriced, but slightly above average sound.
Polk = better home speakers than car speakers

Of the brands the CC store near me carries, I was was most impressed with the Infinity Reference series. The Polks sounded decent, too, but for the same or less money, I'd rather have the Infinities.
FWIW, I don't find that the Infinities are really overpriced at all. Sure they cost more than the crappy Pioneer speakers you can buy at Circuit City or Best Buy, but they also sound lots better. I have a set of Infinity Reference speakers for my home theater system at home. Those were on clearance for $350 each. My roommate at the time actually bought them, but then he sold them to me for money that he owed me. Plus he didn't wanna move them to Peoria with him anyway when he moved out. Those things sound pretty nice. The car speakers were a steal compared to them and the speakers themselves really aren't terribly different from the Kappa series. 8 ohm impedance instead of 4 and slightly higher power handling rating at 100W. Only other difference is the inclusion of the ported black veneered speaker box and a tweeter.

you can get custom wrx spacers for the rear doors from subee-sound.com. they will accomodate 5.25 speakers in the rear doors.
does CC carry boston acoustic? if so, perhaps you can check out the pro series...i heard they are pretty good, albeit pricey.
i personally like diamond audio, but that's besides the point since you're interested in brands that are sold at CC.

Nevermind the MB Quarts. I was testing the PSD 216 at a local car audio shop, and the tweeter blew with about 60 watts going into it (Def Leppard was playing).
Not that I trust the salesman, but he said the MB Quarts are not the most reliable speakers. He said they sound superb for certain types of music, but jamming them out and running them hard will destroy them.
I still don't know. He recommended the Kicker RS6 component set.
I still need to test the Boston Rally series, one more time, and I have yet to hear the Diamond audio set.
I've seen on other message boards that a Kenwood Excelon component set fits perfectly with the factory spacer, but I haven't seen them anywhere around where I live.
Finally, I take back my spot on saying the Infinities are overrated. I listened to them again at Circuit City. For the cash, they are probably the best you can buy at CC. Also Infinity makes superb home speakers as well.
