in-dash monitor wiring

1. My car is a 2004 2.5 RS

2. I installed the under the seat subwoofer that is available from subaru. Is there any way to hook it up to my new head unit? It came with a 14 pin to plug the factory 14 pin into, which then connected to the head unit. The only other thing that needed to be hooked up was the ground for the sub.

3. (more of a concern) The 14 pin that I bought from the local sound shop has 13 wires coming out of it. Are there only 13 wires going into the 14 pin on the factory head unit attachment?

4. Does my car have a power booster for the antenna? Is the only attachment to the head unit at the other plug in (actual antenna plug in), or does the antenna need some sort of power supply?

antenna is powered by the alternator. the wire from the head unit is just a remote turn on turn off signal.
and no you cant hook up that sub because the aftermarket headunit is not compatible with the subaru subwoofer (gAyNeSS) yea they designed it that way just like all other manufacturer subwoofers

does this mean that I need to attach the antenna remote cable (blue cable on my harness adaptor) in addition to the antenna plug that is seperate from the harness?

yes you attatch the plug to the head unit female and you attatch the power antenna cable (looks like a remote) to the power antenna cable on the head unit
even though you dont have a power antenna
the plug is for the am/fm signal and the power antenna remote is for the on/off function

not antennas, just a turn-on signal

I was just as surprised as you to hear this fact, but it is true that you need to hook up the blue wire (antenna remote turn on wire) on the aftermarket wiring harness even though there is not a motorized antenna that comes out of the car. Before I did this, I got bad reception. Once I attached the antenna remote turn on wire, it was all good, crystal clear even. I think the reason for the power wire is just to send it the signal so that the antenna is only demanding power when the radio is being played. Pretty cool, huh!

The strange thing is that when I called the Subaru dealership to get some questions answered, the service tech told me that it didn't need a power supply. For anyone installing a new HU themselves, they should attach the antenna remote turn on wire for a 2004 2.5RS.

This could be different on different car models, not sure.

not a POWERED , in the sense that it goes up and down.

but rather an amplified antenna...
