cigarette lighter/auto dimmer 12v outlet circut (FYI)

so, after much head scratching this evening it appears that the cigarette lighter outlet is on the same circut as the connector for the optional auto dimming mirror. i went to install my new radar detector and hardwire power to the auto dimming mirror circut, only to discover that a) there was no power and b) i couldn't power the detector off the cigarette lighter.

it took me quite a while to figure out that i ought to start checking fuses, espescially the lighter one....

to the best of my knowledge, there is no documentation about the lighter and the auto dimmer being on the same fused circut. sooooo, if your auto dimming mirror or radar detector suddenly looses power, check the cigarette lighter fuse

I wanted to install my radar detector the same way. I know that only power and ground are needed but I would appreciate it if you could tell me which wires to tap into off the mirror...Im sure I could figure it out but it might save me from tampering with the wrong wire. Also, how did you mount the detector?

Thanks for the info
