CDT Audio HD-62 or HD-52 in Impreza
I am thinking of ordering a pair of CDT audio HD-62 or HD-52's to install in the front doors of my Impreza 04 wagon. I am a bit concerned about mounting depth (2 13/16 for the HD-62's, 2 3/8 for the HD-52's). If any of you guys have opinions on CDT, or have CDT speakers installed and information on the install, a reply would be much apprecitated!

Thanks for the reply OneManArmy. I am not familiar with the CF model or eastcoast. Can you give me some more info? I have Boston Acoustic Pro 6 1/2's in right now and they were a tight squeeze (depth wise) and the depth on those is only 2 3/8 so that is why I am worried about it. Anyone out there that actually has the HD-62's or 52's installed??

east coast subaru...he sells adapters to fit the deeper speakers.

the carbon fiber model has a similar frame to the euro model so it's a bit slimmer. And a bit more money.
If my buy falls through on those I will be getting the ones you are looking at. I know people have got them to fit.

sweet. Yeah it's a long journey for me.
I don't know much about stereo installs and I'm super sketchy on jacking up my doors and what not. I hate taking stuff like that apart. With my civic I could never get my damn door sils to sit right again.
I have a bunch of stuff going in and I just have no clue to do. I know I'll get help when the time comes so call it a karma thing....I guess...no problem..you're welcome.
I have an alpine 7987 going in the factory guage pod...still need the pod.
6.5cdt's in the door (still need adapters) and tweeters in custom built a pillars.
Mattjk screen in the dash.
PS2
JL Audio 300/4
I'll likely add some coax for the rear doors and a small sub anywhere I can fit it that's not the trunk....under the seat maybe...probably an 8 or 10. Looking into the possibility of building boxes for two inch JL subs...one under each seat. But then I loose my amp mounting location....e.rrrrrr. and my ps2 storage spot...
I just want this crap in my car...burned out I guess.
Best of luck with your system.

I am in the same boat (little experience). I had the Boston's put in by Sound Advice and I have had to take it back three times and they still haven't been able to get it right. I am taking it back on Monday as the third time I have had problems (first time serious distortion - they said bad crossover - second time whole left side went out - this time the left speaker went out).
So I am finished with them. I wasn't that impressed with the Boston's anyway. So I just bumped it up. I ordered the ES-620 from the zeb and the brackets from east coast. I am going to take the doors off next week and apply some sound deadener and hopefully be ready to install the speakers when they get here!!
I have a jl 300/4 powering the 4 speakers and a 10 inch jl sub powered by a 200 alpine. I have a wagon so the sub fits nicely in the back. I am looking forward to hearing the EuroSports!!!!

wow...nice.
Can you take some pictures of how you do your sound deadening....I plan to do the same to my car..just the doors.
Your set up is close to mine but your speakers are a bit better and your cross over is a step up as well. Same amp though....haaaa. I love that amp. I had it in my civic too running all JL Speakers and it ripped.
you running andy rear door speakers?
I'm really sketchy with paying some shop some insane amount of money to hook up my stuff when I won't have purchased anything from them....I have had horrible...horrible experiences with shops...nothing but negative.
I'd like someone that know subaru's and is an active member of the society..haaa. the society....lol.

Yeah I think the doors are a major distortion problem. If you look on the east coast link you sent me (http://www.iaperformance.com/catalog...ctionNumber=16) at the bottom of the page click on "6.5" Front Applications & Door Trimming Instructions". They mention cutting an unneeded plastic portion of the panel off. I don't know much about sound dampening materials but I ordered a gallon of carquiet. It is a liquid which I plan on brushing on the front door panels for now. I am a little worried about removing the plastic lining (That seems to be there to protect the electronics in the door from moisture). I may replace when I am through not sure yet. I will take some pics for you (it is probably going to be a few weeks).
Yeah I bought all of this stuff (I spent around 1500, also got a Eclipse 8443 hu) at sound advice and they still haven't gotten it right. They have been very nice and cooperative but it is getting to the point where even though I am not experienced I feel with a little time and care I can get everything set up perfect. I am running some cheap 4 inch Boston's in the back for now. Might upgrade later but the back speakers don't seem to matter much.

That plastic part that protects from moisture.
It's got this goopie type of adhesive on it. If you take care in taking it off and placing it some place flat it should be a snap to put back on. I took mine on and off of my civic several times. That's the least of your worries..haaa.
yeah just be careful with it and it will slap right back on. with the same adhessive.
