Battery relocation

Battery relocation
Any thoughts on using jumper cables to run from a battery in the trunk to engine? This would allow me to jump the car from either end and (in theory) improve spark. Improving juice to the alternator would be great since running the power windows seems to put a strain on the electrical system as is. And the battery is only 1.5 years old.

Jumper camble
I'm not to clear on your set up. But; If your tanking about using Jumper Cables as wire for a battery relocation. It would work fine. My race car has had the battery in the trunk for 2 years and i used jumper cable wire. If you have your battery in the trunk already you shuold be able to jump the car from either end.

Well until two weeks ago the ZX2 was my daily driver, running 245 whp and 233 fpt out of a 98 escort ZX2. I just picked up my 01 2.5 RS about the 16th. But as for the relocation. I did it two years ago this mounth. It has worked great thus far. As for not having enough juice try a bigger battery, a smaller alternator pulley, or if you have a kicking system you can try a getting a secoundary power cell. But moving your battery to your trunk will not help this (although the bigger cables could).

I think you need to do a little more research on adding additional batteries and the "proper" way to do it. It's not as easy, or cut and dry as it seems. There are many factors that go into it. Adding another batter should not improve spark, nor will it improve juice to the alternator. Most people add a second battery to increase capacity.......like it you want to play your stereo at high levels with the engine off. You should always look into upgrading your existing battery before you consider an additional one. You also need to know the proper way to install it. Will you be adding a dry or wet cell? Where/how will it be mounted. Does it need to be sealed and vented outside the car? Lots of stuff to look into

A dry cell to replace my existing one. I would like to mount it in the trunk for weight distribution and b/c I will need to run wires back there any way for a couple amps. I haven't worked out the routing to the front yet, but to get the wire out of the trunk there is a grommet that I can remove and enlarge if needed. The things I don't know or am unsure about is what I hope you can help me out with. Any insight would be great. Thanks.
