A JL 1000/1 for the 12w7 would be ideal. I've heard it and damn it bumps haha. I'm actually switching to this setup. I'm gonna use 0 gauge 2 wire it and add a yellow top. It's gonna be sick.
I have to agree....definitely 1000/1. I'm using the 500/1 to power 2 10w3v2's and it bumps enough for me. If you're going with a 12w7, 1000/1 would be the amp of choice.

Whether or not the Subaru alternator can generate that much juice is another story...I'm merely commenting on what would sound best for that sub.

What good is it to install a 1000 watt amp in a car that can't run it?

i would normally agree, but you'd be surprised how well my car does with a 1000W and a 400W amp installed, only dimming at the highest of levels and even then when it dims it bounces right back even if the note is constant. so I'd still say go for it

perhaps your amps not actually putting out a 1000 watts. A crossfire BMF1000d is a non-regulated power supply amp which means its output will vary greatly with changes in speaker load and input voltage from the car. You mentiond in a earlier post that JL amps were not worth the money- I couldn't disagree more. JL slash series amps are some of the best amp values in the car stereo world because they always give you full rated power. Their R.I.P.S. power supply technology has proven to be very reliable and consistant. Now I not only own JL amps, I sell them as well as many others including Crossfire, everyday. There are definately lots of other great amp builders/marketers out there but JL are the most consistant. By that I mean every time I set up a system with JL Audio slash amps I know exactly what performance I will be selling regaurdless of what head unit I am using or what type of car I am installing it into. For the record, JL amps are made for JL woofers. A W7 voice coil is a very hard load to drive. Some amps simply won't run a W7 to full excursion, they will shut off or thermal very quickly. The JL amps work great......

Good Luck
Scott

I didn't mean to sound like JL amps are bad, I know they are absolutely great amps. Just, for the money I think there's just as good of sound to be had with other companies too for a little less and most likely there would be no problems with them either. I dunno, i sound slanted sometimes cause I sort of favor buying stuff from smaller companies cause i feel like i'm paying more for the equipment and less for the brand.
