Alpine Type-R Subwoofer (Dual 2 ohm or Dual 4 ohm)???
I am thinking of putting a new Amp and Sub on my 05 WRX while keeping the factory deck and speakers. The Subwoofer I have in mind would be a 12" Alpine Type-R Series. If I get the Alpine's MRD-M605 V12 Mono Amp and using only one 12" Type-R Series Sub, does anyone know if I should get the Dual 2 ohm (SWR-1222D) or the Dual 4 ohm (SWR-1242D) 12" Subwoofer?

This is the spec for that Amp:
RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-200Hz)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 400W x 1
Per channel into 4 ohms : 250W x 1
RMS Power (at 14.4V,20Hz-200Hz)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 600W x 1
So does that mean I should buy the Dual 4 ohm and wire each coil in parallel to get a 2 ohm load?

run it at 2 ohms. meaning buy the dual 4 ohm type r sub and wire it to the one channel bridged to equal 2 ohms. i would never recommend runing a sub at 1 ohm unless you are going for spl. they run muddy and messy. it is much sharper and cleaner with a 2 or 4 ohm load. and since you are buying an alpine it sounds like you care somewhat about sound quality
