6.5" Speakers in the rear doors in a WRX

Is it possible?

is there a kit I have to buy to do it, or is it just impossible (Without lots of money/modification)

If you have done it, what did u have to do to get it done?

Thanks
-Zoeb

Fitting a 6.5" speaer into a 4" hole? That amounts to prison sex! I really doubt you'd get away with that without a lot of modification, an adapter/riser being the least of your trouble.

You're going to have to do some mods. It would be easier to put them in the rear deck, but you would still have to do some mods.

a good pair of 4" speakers in the stock location w/ a pair of tweaters and a sub in the trunk, and ofcourse a good x-over it should sound better then a 6-1/2 three way.

I would take Wrx21 with a few twists:
Get a component set for the fornt doors (6.5" including a set of tweaters and Crossovers) add a sub as he sayd add a good amp and in the backdoors get high qulety 4" best setup you could get, if you ask me? better get the good 4" then put two 6.5 in the rear deck this way you will get a much better fealing/flow for the music and if you got DVD in the car stick a center speaker and the sound will be the bomb.

Bottom line dont mess with trying to get big speakers for the rear bealive me smallers are better, remember its not the size that matter! (in this case anyway ).

Just because a Speaker is small doesn't mean it cant be loud .. a big speaker has an easier time producing low frequencies like bass, because they have more surface area "Y axis" .. But, little speakers can sound just as good as long as they are built to handle more wattage ie.. bigger magnet stronger vioce coil and surround "More movement in X axis". which is basically any aftermarket spaeker you can buy. So just buy a speaker that fits it will sound just as good as long as it isn't underpowered.

Yeah you can but the sound is just so bad the thing is just get 4" that are good very good not something crappy and the sound then can be heard as good as if it was coming out of 6.5" they are just more expensive

I did it.

Just use a dremmel with cutting wheel. I also ran big ol' monster cable into the doors for optimum transfer. You get a load of room in the door itself. No-probs with the window baraket either. I am running polk audio 6.5's and love them very much. I listen to a load of accustical gutar music and the 6.5's sound great.

In my Grand National I have all Alpine speakers ( 2 - 6X9, 2 - 51/4) and a 4 channel amp pushing them. The two in the dash are pushed by the Alpine head unit. Also 2 MTX 8's in the trunk with a shatty amp. With the Subs off the car hits hard and is very clear. Size dosnt really matter, just get high quality speakers, and get some power to them. That is my plan with the subie. Check out the Polk link on the home page. They have two sweet set ups for the WRX.

If you want the 6-1/2" Speakers so badly why don't you put them under the rear deck and updrade the ones in the doors from the stockers to somthing nicer and end up with 4 rear channel speakers?? -- Well I guess then you will need an amp.

Guess i'm just against cuting holes in the doors - If it don't fit .. don't force it.
