IDK if it is just me or what, but are 2002 WRX radios supposed to be backlit? When i look the the 04's the whol headunit is lit up, the number to the radio and everything, on my radio the only thing backlit is the LCD display, is this right? anyone who knows if it is or if im just missing some know lemme know, thanks.

With the 04's, the screen is the only thing that's lit up until you turn on your headlights. Then everything is lit. Maybe your "illumination" signal from the headlights is screwy?

i have no idea thats why im trying to get some input from some people with 02's, the numbers and stuff dont light up headlights on or off, but the LCD display does.

All the buttons are supposed to light up when you turn on the headlights, otherwise its just the lcd display. Check the fusebox on the left side of the dash behind the little cubby. You can just pull the whole cubby out and the fusebox is behind it. I have a suspicion that your ILLUMI fuse may be blown.
