Volunteers-Rally America-Exciting Regional-Desert Storm Rally-March 23/24th,2007

The Desert Storm Rally will be coming up in March and we would like to invite you to come out and help us support this event if possible.

IT will be 130 stage miles of roads for this event and we will be headquartered in Blythe,Ca and will be using La Paz County, AZ. roads which is just across the border of California off the I-10 freeway. This will be the 4th annual of this event and this year we have expanded new roads and the longest set of stages on this side of the country concerning a 2 day event. The City of Blythe and its chamber of commerce has gotten involved to help out to make this event successful/fun/exciting for both volunteers and competitors. We are to be having some event activities to be happening and the businesses to get involved. There will be an update on that once we have our meeting again with the city council in another week.

We expect about a 30 car field and Lauchlin O'Sullivan who is running for the national championship of Rally America will be coming down to run this event.

We will be in observation to become a national rally for 2008....your help will be that success to bring out another Rally America National Championship to the Southwest region.

New this year a VIP/Media/Testing stage on Thursday -March 22nd, 2007:
We are having on Thursday a VIP/Media/Testing stage that day for anyone who wants to come out and see what a rally car is like. you can get in the car and we are hoping to have media there for that in the morning and testing in the late afternoon for any teams that want to check out there car. We will be using a short stage for that portion. But in the morning we should have some teams to come out and have VIP's and media to get in the cars and we will let the workers that work that stage to get in the car as well for a ride....so we would need some control workers and licensed ham operators for this Thursday activity...

Event:
Then Fri(day) and Saturday we will be have both days with lots of competition for the running of events. We already have our control captains ready and we like to get them setup with some workers for their teams.

Volunteer Registration will be at the host hotel on Thursday evening for workers working both events. Friday evening for anyone who can only make it for Saturday only. Just note we do need lots of workers for the Friday and Saturday event. We will make it exciting/fun for you...

Lodging:
If you are interested we will have our host hotel in Blythe and we will have a campground near by with some great rates for lodging. If you want to setup a tent we should be able to have a campground setup for anyone probably around the $15.00-35.00 range but we will know more once we meet with them in another week. Our host hotel we are in working with a contract their rates will be at $69.00 per night and we will be working with another hotel which will be around that range as well. But once you sign up we will be sending out more information about lodging once we firm up all of our deals with the hotels in Blythe.

Parties:
Friday night could be a parc expose whereas we close off a street in Blythe and all the cars are on display and with businesses involved and booths and we might have a pizza party or we will get a restaurant involved to get half off on a buffet...so more on this in about 2 weeks...but we will be doing something Friday night for the volunteers.

Saturday night:
BBQ presented by Subaru Southwest Region at the Blythe Chamber of Commerce for all volunteers and competitors...it will be free for you and only $10.00 for anyone outside who did not work the event. We will have vouchers for you to have to show at time of entrance for the party and meet the competitors and watch who gets what awards.

Volunteers get:
Free Lunches both Friday and Saturday
Event Shirt
Friday night is under the works...we will have something...
Saturday night BBQ
Other swag coming...
Prize drawings for ham operators and non-ham operators at the BBQ dinner

Once you sign up we will be sending you updates as we get closer to the event to keep you informed and where to regsiter/lodging/activites/scheduleand who is on what team, etc.

We need:
Timing and Scoring control marshals
Licensed Ham Radio Operators
Setup Crew - To come out Thursday morning help Pat to setup the course...
Hospitality volunteers....
Volunteer Registration
Sweep Crew...need a tow wrench on vehicle and be able to tow out competitor's cars
Spectator Area Marshals
Thursday - VIP/MEdia/Testing Stage workers (need about 6 people)
Tech Inspection Assistants -assist the tech inspector on inspecting competitors cars
Banner team volunteers
PARC Expose Assistant
Service Area Marshals (we will have two service areas)

So we would love to have you..so come on out and enjoy a few days of competive rallying and some great stage roads to watch some great competition ... these roads are rally car friendly and fast...

If you get up to 6-12 people from the car forum to come out and work the stage...we will put your car club name on the routebook, event shirt and name the stage after your club....

Desert Storm Rally supports car clubs that support Desert Storm...we will take care of you getting the support you need.
