If it appeals to the mass media/general public then yes. The focus isn't on enthusiasts anymore, which is sad because they are the reason why the wrx and evo were brought over here.

If they can make this platform similar to the ae86, fun cheap car, then maybe it'll be a hit.

Damn you!!!! i'm not arguing just stating the fact. I want a real performance oriented car from Toyota and have even asked them during my trips over there. They have would rather sell 100k Camry's then sell 10k new model sport car.

With the technology and capabilities of both Toyota and Subaru, they can offer us something awesome, but will they? Most likely not.

How far back on Impreza sales do you want to go. I have data back to 1993. But yeah, since the WRX was introduced in 2001, sales have almost doubled for that model; avg 20k/yr to 35k/yr.

Or just provide a decent line up starting with a 15k 100hp version to top of the line 25k 200 hp version. People like options to a certain extent. I think both versions will do wonders in terms of sales since you can get A) the econo box 300000mpg version or the B) 'performance' oriented version, both of which will look good on the either side of the performance/economic fence.
