Is it me or are those tires similar (just by tread pattern) if not the same as the factory Potenzas on the stis?

The pics are from the spy photos taken of the GTR taking some test laps at Laguna Seca.

did that thing look like a maggot? it had to have been at least 3 times the length of that cricket.
