also do not cash that check when they write it to you... the idea is you write it to the repair shop. basically sign for it when you pick up the car. Because you don't pay a dime to the repair shop untill it's all done. The body shop has to fix your car to your standards not theirs.
The insurance company will write you a check you hold onto it untill your car is done, if there are additions to the original estimate the insurance company cuts the repair shop a check but some times like All state or 21st century they will mail you the check and you keep that too.
so make sure you check for paint runs, over spray, orange peel, and that the White they painted your car matches and was blended correctly.

Ya the orange peel effect was noticeable on my friend's s2000 when he got his car repaired. He had the dealer redo the work with the cost going to the insurance of the guy who caused the accident.
Orange peel YUK!!!! they need to wet sand that shet down and polish the fvk out of the paint.

This is totally above and beyond what ppl normally do but heres another suggestion. What I did once with my dad's Odyssey was to visit the shop once the parts came in. I looked at the parts myself and it was still in the original honda packaging giving me a good feeling that they were OEM parts. I then did a once over on the parts to see if there were signs of wear or tear and to check if the parts were aftermarket copies.
