What does radar unit 1040919 stand for?
Too bad that last weekend I got the second speed ticket since last Dec. I was driving at 85Miles on 5FWY with my passport 8500 on at 11:00PM. A cop came from behind with siren flashed and stopped me. On the ticket on the second line below Radar Unit/Patrol Vehicle he wrote R 1040919. Does it stand for a radar gun's model #? Does anyone know it? Thanks!
Drive slow especially at night enen you have a radar detector!

Get a better Radar! V1 Baby! True it is easy to get caught at night. I drive faster on most Highways durring the day. MY V1 has saved me more times than I can count but I have been caught out at night by instant on with it up. Sorry to here it. 85 isn't even speeding on the 5.

I tired Google, could not find it.
If that code stands for a radar gun, then it must not use K or Ka band! Why? Because 8500 did not response to it. If it is not K or Ka band, can V-1 find it? I doubt it.
The first time I got cought was on Dec. 2003. The cop even did not use the radar gun and cought me. I was told that I changed lane too fast and I drove too fast. When she asked me how fast I drove and I was too honest that I said it was about 70-75. Then she gave me a ticket. Damn!
I was wondering within 3 years, how many tickets will be allowed to get without license been suspened? Now I drive like an old man!
If the cop see i am using a radar dector while I am driving at legal speed, what will happen?
thanks and drive safely!

Legal in CA!
They can't do anything unless it's a radar jammer.
From the Valentine1 web site:
"Aren't radar detectors illegal in a lot of places?
- T.G., Virginia
You still have the right to know when you're under radar surveillance almost everywhere in the US. The exceptions are Virginia, which bans detector use, and nearby Washington, D.C., which bans possession. Canada is much less friendly toward civil liberties. Detectors are banned everywhere except British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan."
Also...help combat laser usage on your front plate...

V1?
I have had many tickets in and around LA. In LA county it is not permitited to use radar on highways unless it is posetd. Pacing is the prefered method of the majority of law inforcement. I went to court on 5/4/04 to fight a ticket that was 86 on the 101. It was written as "over 65". This is almost a no win situation, as all the officer has to do is prove that your were breaking the speed limit. He does not have to have an exact speed on you. FIGHT EVERY TICKET YOU GET! I have gotten out of at least six tickets over the last ten years here in LA county because the officer didn't show up for court. You have nothing to loose.
I have had the V1 and the currently have the 8500. Both are too sensitive to use in the city. Now I only use it when I hit the canyons. If you're speeding at night on the freeways then you better keep a close eye on your rear view and watch for lights that close in on you fast. I was busted when I was 19 for racing an unmarked at night; that sucked.

Thanks bros!
It's very difficult to see the cops in the rear mirror at night. Better drive slow and do not be too honest unless they use radar gun prove you are over speed.

After 20 years of watching the rear view I can pick out a Crown Vic in a flash. Just remember to never admit to anything, he will use it against you in court. When you do go to court if you say that you were doing over the limit then you've admitted guilt and your found guilty. YOU WERE DOING THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. It is up to him to prove otherwise. You can also ask the officer for a certificate of calibration. He will need one for the patrol car if he paced you and he will need one for the gun if he radared you. CHP are hard to beat because they almost always have their paperwork in order. It dosen't hurt to try.
