WHat do you think of Male nurses?

Congrats on getting into the nursing program. But we like to be called "Murses" haha. That's my saying at least. But it's a fulfilling career but very tiresome on your feet and body. Male nurses are in demand cause of the lifting factor and usually get complimented better... I have military background too. Combat Medic/Nurse. And it's a great way to get your foot in the medical field if you want to get in that bad. (I don't recommend it right now if you're not willing to go to war) There are many programs at certain hospitals that offer the LVN to RN program as well. How it works out is something like this...you sign a contract with them to work for them for X amount of years and they pay for your schooling to get your RN. And this way, you don't have as much debt. I'm trying to get that going for me. The less debt, the happier I am. =D
You'll like the nursing field if you like helping people.
Sorry to drag this out... = /

Yea very true. Sometime I have to help patients out of bed. I'm always called to do it and they wich i was there more then 2 hours a day.
Theres a down side to doing. Its dealing with patients that are crazy and never stfu. Im fine with it but theres a level where i dont i dont give a rats ***. An the other nurses as well ignore them.
All in all im having fun.
To Jerry:
I have a few friends that go to MT Sac and volenteer at the spot im at. I'm guessins it done through school because thats how i got in there.
Basicly you do of where you want to be stationed at. I'm trying different field's. Right now im in Onocology and all they got me doing is changing the soil linen, checking gloves, re-filling water, and when they need me ill help with changing the diaper and bed sheets.
Next year im going to check out the ER see how thats like.

Khooda: Have you exhausted you GI Bill and other benefits? or are you out of service? in my case, Military pays for Tuition fee, books are out of my GI Bill, and all I have to pay is parking permits. nice to know another Soldier-medic here.
Impressive-G: Oncology is a good department... one of the things I wanna concentrate into.
By the way I just read an article that 1,000,000 nurses are needed in USA and this shortage will continue upto 10 years. this means guaranteed jobs for lots of folks... good pay too... ($4,000 - 8,000 per month) even more if youre Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Anaesthetist (over 100K per year).

But nah, I haven't started using any of the benefits (GI bill, student loan program ect). I should, but I kind of got word that I'm supposed to deploy in October...it's all speculation, but I take it seriously.

hmm... maybe I change my job as well?
I sit all day doing programming and your head hurt cause I have to think constantly =(
The male to female ratio in programming... sigh...
And helping people can lighten your day... (if they don't give you **** that is). I can deal with people when they are great/ok. But I feel bad if I have to deal with those unreasonable people. How do you guys deal with that?
