how about os? guess get an illegal copy. and the other one is quad core plus there crap-tacular warrenty. if you consider those then it's justified to be better than "the friend built special"

whats an OS?

Sure that dell is quad core, but games don't run better on quad core than duo core. and on top of that. we all know mike is going to play games. why use the sucky ATI2400 pro video card when you can have the video game industry standard geforce 8800gts? and if mike feels like he needs more power he can slap another 8800gts, which makes game play 50% faster. And yea its only running 2gb ram vs to dells 3gb ram. but lets not forget that vista eats up ram like no other . vista idling uses up 30% of total ram. I recommend windows xp. which can be bought for less than 80 bucks (a legal copy)

Mike, shop around for your hardware. you should easily be able to find a kick-*** spec'd machine for under $1K, save the rest. i can help you out with any type of software that you might need (this means everything), so ditch any of the bundled software packages that are options, just get the OS. the less the better, pre-built machines today seem to be infested with all sorts of useless software anyway...
