Throw Out Bearing

Anytime I push the clutch in when the car is off, it makes a little grinding noise. Suby Specialists said that it might just be a rusted clutch pivot. I took it to Renick Subaru and they checked it out and have found out that it's a dirty throw out bearing. They said they would have to take out the tranny to lubricate the bearing and it would cost $468 to do it.

I would try to do it myself but I'm afraid I'd mess up my car. It doesn't sound like that hard of a job to do. What should I do? I know someone out there wants to fix my car!

Renick says that the throw out bearing is not under warranty. Are they lying to me? I've already had a few people say that it should be under powertrain warranty. Will it be a problem if I don't get it fixed?

dont worry about it, if you can live with the slight noise, do so. Its kind of a waste of money, because you can change it later when you change the clutch. But if it bugs you and you are local, my friend and I will change it out. We've done plenty of clutches lol
