problem with factory sound system..... please help!
i was trying to hook up some accessory lighting on my friends 2001 2.5 rs and to make a long story short, i tried to tap the positive wire that goes to the subwoofer under the driver seat. i must have shorted something cuz it doesnt work anymore! i undid the wiring and everythign but i think i blew a fuse or something, cuz the the stereo and all the speakers still work fine but nothings coming from the subwoofer. is there a fuse that goes to it? i didnt damage the subwoofer itself did i? does anyone here know about the wiring for the sound system on this car?
can anyone help me please? i was just trying to help him out but now i screwed up his car. please email me if you think you know what the problem is: boosted_180@hotmail.com

Check to see if the sub has it's own amp. If so you just blew the fuse on the amp, no big deal. Vertually all amplifiers will have a fuse on them to protect from this type of thing. If the sub is powered from the deck, there is a chance you could have blown that channel. When I pulled the factory deck out of wrx however I didn't see an extra channel for the sub. If you have a needle power tester, put it on the line you tapped into to see if it is live. If the line is hot, you blew something on the sub. If the line is dead you blew something at the power source. That's my 2 cents
