California Pizza consist of anything on a typical pizza (tomato sauce + cheese as main ingredients).
Like the seasonal autumn / halloween pizza I had, it's made out of spinch, bell peppers, cheese and the main power topping, kabocha / japanese pumpkins on a thin crust.

Houston's at Pasadena/Century City. Its part of a larger resturant group called hillstone. I say the food is very good, espically the sea bass and the prime rib. The environment has this modern feeling that intergrates very well with the texan decorations. The lighting is dim enough to create a comfortable setting and every easy on the eye.
A great date spot!!! But its a bit pricey.

Been on a sushi kick lately. Here's my favs:
You and I Sushi, Irvine area... try the flying roe (smelt egg marinated in wasabi). It's an experience. Good all-you-can-eat specials daily.
Sengoku, Fullerton... best albacore anywhere. Nice quiet atmosphere.
Koi, Seal Beach... All around good. Very good chefs that love making something special for you with the main ingredient of your choice. Black Snapper there is very tasty.
Benihanas, Anaheim location... No. 7 Special Handroll... WOW! Great for sunday-morning hangover cure. $1.75 handrolls all day.

ate at this italian place called pace (pronouced pa-chay) with some norcal friends about a week ago in hollywood area. I had the rigatoni with eggplant, chicken with spicy tomato sauce. That was killer. We also shared 1 pizza which i thought was ok but nothing special. It was a rectangular, flat pizza and had sausage, pepperoni, etc. The only downside is that this place was packed and our reservation was at 10:00PM and the unnecessarily expensive bottled italian water. (like pelegrino but with a different name) Perhaps the reason why was it was grammy awards weekend, but i heard it was always like that
Same friends and I went to this lebanese place in 2nd street in LB. Service was slow but had all sorts of stuff on the menu like chicken, lamb and beef kabobs, hummus and flatbread, etc. Good stuff.

Just went to a soft opening for the one in San Clemente. I'd never been to a fondue place, I was very impressed. I ordered some sort of combo... It's like the one that gives you the full fondue experience for two... They had a huge wine list...
The cheese course was really good. There's a style with sake in it that I really enjoyed.
The "cooking" course, which is your meat & veggie portion was good (The combination was a chicken/filet mignon/lobster/shrimp), but the lobster tail was just ok. Then again, I prefer crab over lobster any day, and it could have been that everything cooks in the same pot, which could have blended the different meat flavors too much.
The chocolate course... ok, if you like chocolate, then damn, you'll love this place. I went with some people who work there, and they all agreed, the orignal style chocolate was the bomb... and order extra brownies... I could have died happy after that... Also, pineapple and chocolate is very good! Who knew!
Overall, very cool experience...
