water dip is fine. There is an AMP draw and RPM limit. IIRC, AMP draw limit is 2.5 amps at 1.5 volts. And I believe rpm can't exceed 20,000. This is for the black sport tuned motor though. Regional races run silver cans (Johnsons are the strong ones, not Mabuchi), the finals race uses sport tuned motors that are SPEC handouts.
They scrapped F1 due to turn out. However this year there is a LeMans class (F103GT chassis). I still have my F201 but its too fast for the street (40+ mph) so its a shelf queen. As for the JDM stuff, no way around the old 'ol EPA. However you can try www.hlj.com to see if they can order it for you (straight from the source)
EDIT:
here is the LeMans car (work in progress). I tried a custom paint scheme to match the LC70 Courage Swiss Spirit but the custom decal work is starting to get difficult and time consuming

i had plenty of intentions of getting a subaru, i started off wanting a wrx but for the sake of more space i wanted a legacy.
a used one was the only one in my budget but they were so few and far between that it was almost impossible to find one. so i widened my scope and ended up with a z.

You should join the SPEC class for TCS (TT-01 and TL-01 only). It's mostly kids 8-16 but as long as you are a newb there is no age limit Just don't announce that you raced at socal.

I'll let you slide through tech, no worries. Just make sure you setup your table way in the back of the pits.
The O.C. kids nowadays have about $1000+ in terms of equipment but no driving skills. I don't think it will be much of a problem. heh
