Well there are some things that can rob hp from the crank to the wheels... Resistance/friction from gears, and friction from bearings/bushings are some. in a car there are so many moving parts that can rob hp that it is really difficult to accurately estimate how much hp is lost from the crank to the wheels... Maybe somebody posted dyno results to do a comparison to?

STi 300 crank to 240 wheel
WRX 227 crank to 180 wheel.

That pretty much the case in all the loss is about 40 Hp

So bone stock, its ~20% loss then in both cases. Maybe thats a new rule of thumb for subarus in that case..

That could very will be. The best I've seen in 196 stock on Dyno jet.
The number can very from car to car and dyno to dyno.

We can only speak to the average in a questions verses the exact of a dyno pull.

I always thought AWD cars have 30% loss whereas RWD cars had 20%.

That's from my understanding that is.
