i'm not sure which one they spoke. that's just how i heard it. so it must have been cantonese.

Tone does not affect the vowel pronunciation and some dialects of Chinese have up to 9 (Guangdonghua - they say 9&1/2, FuZShouhua has 7)

The entire word may vary a lot from dialect to dialect, so chances are you could well find one to support Infidel's position

im cantonese so i say it tsao/chow mean. i think fried noodles is a cantonese cousine. if you go to SF/oakland chinatowns youll order in cantonese since thats the standard language there.
