97 Outback - Blown Engine - Advice?
I have a 97 Outback and just blew out the engine. This might be related to the infamous blown head gasket, but there were also problems with the radiator. I'm looking for any advice on what to do, where to get the parts and where to do the work. The engine pretty much needs to be replaced, so I'm deciding between putting in a remanufactured, or low mile used EJ25 or perhaps something a bit more powerful. I got a quote on a remanufactured Ej25 engine for about $2800 shipped with oil & water pumps, spark plugs, timing belt, etc. Also saw a used '02 WRX engine for sale and was considering doing an engine swap. I don't know too much about this, but was hoping for some feedback on how much it might cost, is it worth it, who in So Cal is capable of doing it. All suggestions and info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dave
