i did that
I gutted out my uppipe and my cat!! and before i knew it a month later my engine blew up! i talked to machine shop professionals and they say it is bad messing with the Cats' on a wrx, so i will never do that again it cost me about 9 grand for a new engine but i like the new engine i have alot it has more compression and i don't need a boost guage anymore

I am not trying to bad mouth going this route. I actually think that it is a very good compromise gutting the stock uppipe.

Word of caution....
..... here is the prob. with people gutting the stock uppipe, its very hard to get all of the dabree out of this pipe cause of the angle and if you don't get every little bit of cat out of that thing then something very bad can happen, ie. blown motors and shattered turbo internals, (thus blown motors) you MUST be sure that the uppipe is perfectly clean when attempting this mod.
Okay back on topic....FreeBMW has sold alot of these and I haven't heard anyone having problems with his, so I guess free bump.

very good, thankyou, i called the pro shop, and they told me my cats and uppipe weren't totattaly clean! so it did all that, plus! since i had my new engine put in! i had the people sleave it, so i had more compression, i am not going to buy a boost controller, i only go buy wat the pro's say from now on! thanx for the info everyone@!!
