Who here likes Outback?

I'm referring to the steakhouse, not the car.

That has to be the most overrated, trendy restaurant I’ve ever eaten at.

I went to the new one in Elk Grove just off Laguna Blvd and the wait was 110 minutes on a rainy Monday evening! The food isn't even that good to be truthful and the menu blows.

The meat they use for their steaks is medium quality at best and way too fatty for the high prices. The only thing that's somewhat good is the bloomin' onion when the batter is actually cooked throughly and the cheese fries.

The only reason I went to the restaurant was because of a $40 Christmas Certificate I got. I ended up calling in a takeout order which took a 15 minute wait in the parking-lot.

/end rant.

Maybe it is trendy here in the sticks....in the Bay Area it is a B restaurant. I mean people out here think Olive Garden is a "fancy restaurant" lol.

Since I moved from Santa Clara I have definitely missed the 15 minute drive to Palo Alto for some good food.

I don't think Outback is that great at all. I'll take Cattlemans or, if I wanna be big baller, Carvers anyday though

How about Tahoe Joe's? I ate there once. Seemed ok. People are funny here though...I mean they will wait 1 hour for friggen Black Angus!

The best food I have had out here has got to be Bandera.

Banderas is alright. I don't like driving over to that part of town though. There are some really good local restaurants in Sac. Maybe not super fancy, but really good.

Well, since I hardly know anyone here I don't know where the "good local restaurants" are and we hardly venture out. Bandera has good atmosphere though (maybe Soggy could "find love" there).

I'm not a huge fan of any chain resturants. They all seem to have mediocre quality when compared to a good local resturant.

Of course, there are some local resturants that just suck ***, so its a toss up between gambling on your food or going the easy route for an 'okay' meal.

A lot of the places I like are down town. If you like Mexican, Centros is really good (28th/J). There's a pretty cool little restaurant called "Tapa the World" on J around 17th or somewhere in there, Luccas on J across from memorial auditorium is kick ***. On 28th and N is a place called Ink that has kick *** breakfast food and some pretty rockin lunch/dinner food.

Over by Banderas, I hear that Maces has really good food (it's in the pavillions pretty much across the street from Banderas). In summer time Maces has kick *** outdoor parties on Thursday nights. A lot of "rich" people from Sac and the area go there - you'll usually see some Kings players, lots of Ferraris/Porsche/BMW/Merc etc. I've never eaten there, only drank
