It's only a ripoof until you need it. I'd much rather pay a few hundred per month for my two cars than have to pay $50,000 all at once to cover car repairs and medical payments.

Sorry, I didn't read the whole depressing thread. I have done some research to see what is going on and unfortunately it is the WRX and STI that are painfully high on the claims resulting in the crazy rates. As a comparison:

My '05 STI - $998 / 6 months
My '91 Carrera 4 cabriolet - $346 / 6 months.

Go figure!

I blame Paul and Matt. But if it wasn't for you guys I prolly wouldn't have gone insurance shopping and found a way better deal.

Right now I pay 215 a month on my 06 WRX (this is with 1,000 deduct.) through progressive. I just did the quote through esurance and they quoted my at 155 a month or 916 every 6 months. I think I might be switching!

This keeps getting better. I would actually get WAY better coverage from esurance!

Do any of you dudes know how esurance is with claims? I'm finding a lot of stuff that indicates they're ok as long as you don't forget to pay them (or have a SNAFU that causes you missed payments) or ever have to file a claim..

I did have a problem after I signed up with them, they tried to raise my premium due to a "lapse in coverage" which didn't exist. I called them up and had it corrected within a few minutes.

They denied my sand damage claim because I ****ed up the wording on my report. I made the mistake of saying that the damage happened "several times on several trips over donner summit" and they denied it on the grounds that it was normals wear and tear. Never mind the fact that any one of those trips damaged the car enough to make a claim for sand damage... ****heads.
