I was in the same boat as you. $900 for the wrx, then it went up to just under $1200, then it went up again to $1300+ all within a year. I'm no role model driver, but my record is clean as a whistle, and except for being single and not being white, I fit the profile of being a safe person to insure. 21st didn't want to budge on the premium so I switched to Progressive. Now it's about $850/6 months, same limits.

I just paid mine. $900 a year for my '95 through AAA. Thats with a high deductable and no collision, liability only.

From what ive seen of WRX insurance rates lately on the clubs, $2000+ a year seems to be the norm... Too many ******** wrecking them and filing claims.

yeah, they MUST have my 01 OBS mislisted as a turbo or something, cus the rates are just TOO HIGH for a N/A subie.
mine should be somewhere in between yours and a WRX but it seems to be more on par w/ the WRX than anything else...

What options are on your policy and how is your driving record?

Yeah, I was with AAA and the high premium. I had been with AAA for more than twenty years and their customer service just became to bad to deal with. I had several policies with them and they wouldn't give me the time of day. I could never get anyone to sit down and review my policies. I moved everything over to Farmers. When I canceled AAA, they got all pissy with me. I wouldn't recommend them.

I worked for AAA and I wouldn't buy their insurance due to rates even with my discount. I agree with the Farmers bit. They have a new rating, but you have to have a clean driving record meaning "no at fault claims" within 6 years I think. If you do, you will not qualify.

They just switched me over when I added a new car and the whole thing just went up by $80 for the 3rd car. I've also been with Farmers for over 5 years so I get some extra break.

Good luck.

get used to it. 21st cent isn't the cheapest.

check with AAA and Ameriprise. i ditched 21st century and went to Ameriprise to group it with my house insurance.

I dumped 21st for Ameriprise through Costco Exc membership. Better rate, better coverage, and they bill my Costco Amex monthly for no extra charge.

i have usaa. even when it was my G35 and my wife's 4 runner, it was only around a grand every 6 months. it was lower when i had my wrx, and it's even less now with the tundra. i use them for my property insurance too though. my driving record is pretty clean, any tickets i have i did traffic school for and any accidents were not my fault.

i'll have to look at my options/coverage but my driving record is clean for over 5-6 years now. no tickets/accidents.
my wife had one 51% at fault (still basically viewed as her fault by ins co = 1 point from about 4 years ago) but thats it.

the 01 OBS had a higher rate than a brand new 05 Mazda3....?!??!?!?
about $20 more a month!!!
i should have taken that as a warning to shop around but i just needed to get it covered when i bought it.
we'll be switched over soon enough.

I thought I always heard that Farmers was expensive with crappy service. I'll have to check them out anyways.

yea i was wonderin the same thing. i called and they said due to their "stats" of losses in the prior year the increase was approved by somebody. i had called and inquired about it as well. mines bumped up like a hundred bucks due to THEIR loss. i say its unfair. but i own a 99 rs coupe n clean record. could be a diff there just my 2 cents

It's gonna end up costing me $1400+/6mo to insure the RS and the Legacy, and I don't have any tickets on my record any more. And that's the cheapest I've found.

How is it possible that people with WRXs are paying 900/6mo?!
