For my WRX I think I pay an annual of about $980, but then I'm an older, more mature driver

*yawns* haha... Ok

So I was under my parents policy through AAA, when I owned an automatic 4 door civic. I was in an accident, got a couple speed tickets, this was when I was 16/17. My insurance was 1000 dollars..... a month....And no... that is not a joke

I now I am older(20), haven't gotten a ticket in over 3 years, no accidents on my record, nothing... I go through Joe Shmoes(not the real name) Insurance company because it was the cheapest this broker could find, I pay 294 dollars a month, for full coverage on a 2000 Camaro z28 and a 2005 Subaru STi, both cars completely under my name

steer clear of Progressive...
they may be cheaper, but i had them and they're notorious for not paying out on claims. they tried to stiff me and the bodyshop when I hit a deer in my Jetta when i was a kid...the bodyshop said they were the worst company to deal with and did not lokie taking progressive jobs for that reason, but my dad knew him, so he did the work (and got stiffed for about $1200 in the end for "unforseen damages" that progressive did not pay for.

my wife's aunt also worked for progressive for over 12 years and after about a year of having them and working for them, she switched to another carrier and never went back to them. if that tells you anything. she says they had crappy business practices and on a corp scale tried to short all claims/coverage to save money. stuff like holding back unless the covered party got a lawyer involved, then they'd pony up for their end of the deal. but 90% of people and bodyshops never went that far, so they'd get away with it the majority of the time.

i have also heard bad things about geico as far as payout and deductibles...but i have no first hand knowledge on them.

i had esurance for years and they were the best price and coverage. and they were the easiest to deal with by far!
we now have Costco/AmEx cus it was gonna be cheaper w/ our house ins. (esurance doesn't do houses) but they're sorta a pain to deal with and the rates are not that much greater IMO. and we can't switch our house ins until we get our claim settled for the water damage with our current home ins (Travelers).

we're shopping around now for a new carrier.

honestly i'd like to go back to esurance. you can do everything online and they provide all your account info and all your docs online as well, so you never have to wait a thousand hours on hold to talk to a rep.
my wife would like to try and have both policys with one carrier but we can't switch for a bit cus of the claim. :\

I just got my next 6 month premium and it jumped from $904 to $1226 for 6 months! My question is who are the WRX owners who made claims with 21st Century and ****ed up the rate?

I'm 25, no tickets and no accidents. I called to make sure this wasn't an error and she said they did some rate changes last October and there was nothing she could do.

Any tips on where to go for insurance to get it back down to around $900?

Here's my current coverage:

Bodily Injury Liability $100,000 Each person / $300,000 Each accident $132
Property Damage Liability $100,000 Each accident $121
Medical Payments None $0
Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury
(Request Change) $25,000 Each person / $50,000 Each accident $30
Comprehensive $1,000 Deductible $287
Collision $1,000 Deductible $650
Uninsured Motorist Collision Deductible Waiver Yes $6
Uninsured Motorist Property Damage None $0
Rental Reimbursement None $0
Additional Equipment $1,000 Included
Towing and Labor $50 per disablement Included

Total 6 month premium for 2004 SUBA IMPREZA WRX $1,226

I'll be shopping for another company.

Ok so after talking to a co-worker that encountered the same problem he gave me this advice.

Raise your driving cap (the amount you drive per year)
To something higher.
My co-worker said that they said he was a higher risk because he drove less. (strange) So once he raised his driving limit, his rates went back to normal.
Strange huh?

bit it worked for him.

I have had AAA, AllStates, 21st, and now Farmers...

I am 26, with better coverage than you, clean record, 2 cars for ~$780.
Note: I have muti-car discount, engineer group, multi-policy (home and auto) discount.

Farmers came out with new rates last year that is why I switched...

Let me know if you need an agent contact...

Good luck!

Damn, I just went to e-surance for a quote....
Your estimated price for 6 months is: $2,347.00

so it's 90 bucks more a month, but it's probably better costumer service then my current one...

Who is your agent? I have Farmers right now for my home policy and the guy they assigned me here is worthless.

Thanks for the tips guys! I'll check out some of the other companies when I get home, and I'll also try the thing with raising my annual miles driven to see if that helps. Currently I estimate 10,000 miles/year.

$190/month for a '92 Ford Aerostar and '96 Miata. It's not the cheapest I could possibly get, but I have a kickass agent (Allstate) and can be reasonably assured I will get good service if I need to file a claim. Just sucks that I'm paying both the 4WD and "sports car" penalties.
