Who the eff has 21st Century Insurance and effed up our premiums?!?!?!?
I know auto insurance has been beat to death around here...but I need to vent.
I just got my next 6 month premium and it jumped from $904 to $1226 for 6 months! My question is who are the WRX owners who made claims with 21st Century and ****ed up the rate?
I'm 25, no tickets and no accidents. I called to make sure this wasn't an error and she said they did some rate changes last October and there was nothing she could do.
Any tips on where to go for insurance to get it back down to around $900?
Here's my current coverage:
Bodily Injury Liability $100,000 Each person / $300,000 Each accident $132
Property Damage Liability $100,000 Each accident $121
Medical Payments None $0
Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury
(Request Change) $25,000 Each person / $50,000 Each accident $30
Comprehensive $1,000 Deductible $287
Collision $1,000 Deductible $650
Uninsured Motorist Collision Deductible Waiver Yes $6
Uninsured Motorist Property Damage None $0
Rental Reimbursement None $0
Additional Equipment $1,000 Included
Towing and Labor $50 per disablement Included
Total 6 month premium for 2004 SUBA IMPREZA WRX $1,226
I'll be shopping for another company.

Tim,
Since you're buying a home, I would recommend switching your car insurance over to whoever you plan on using for homeowner's insurance. You'll get a discount for multiple policies and the overall rate may be lower to begin with.

Thanks for the tip Mike, the only problem is the home thing isn't going to happen until September at this point, the building has been delayed.
Just got a Geico quote with the exact same coverage and it's 972.60/6 months.
Here's the kicker...
Geico
Collision(COLL) $1,000 deductible $421.50
21st
Collision $1,000 Deductible $650
Anyone have any auto insurance horror stories?
Progressive
$853.90/6 months
Geico
$972.60/6 months

I have USAA so I don't count, I suggest joining the military, then get USAA and you'll be saving bank. My 6 month is like $600-700 (w/ $500 deductible), including my renters insurance. Do you have any family members with USAA? They can get you the hook up as well.

Try AAA. I was surprised by the good price I got through them. I went from $900 per 6 months with 21st Century to $1400 per year with AAA with renter's insurance.

Allstate was the first company I had when I bought my RS. After my first 6 month policy, they jacked up my rates, saying that they had changed the value of my car. I tried some others in between then and now, including 21st and esurance. I had American Family when my RS got totalled, and they bungled things left and right. They treated me like it was my fault, even though they knew that they were going to be sending a bill for everything to AAA, who actually treated me very well. I had heard that they can be a pain when you're making a claim against someone else wit them, but they were great. Too bad they cost so much. :-|

I'm an exert on Ca auto insurance
I'm an auto insurance broker. I don't sell it, but I have Wawannesa. I'm 23 have an 02 wagon, and a speeding ticket. They give me the the best price that I could find. You can find all the companies on the Ca Dept. of Insurance web site. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions on coverage and premiums.

High rates? you want to high insurance rates? How about five cars, six drivers, four are under the age of twenty-two and an annual insurance bill of more than $10,000. The kids had jobs, so they helped out. About two years ago my oldest started selling insuance and he managed to lower the bill to around $6,000. The moral of the story is, if you're going to have kids, do't have kids that drive.
For my WRX I think I pay an annual of about $980, but then I'm an older, more mature driver

I'm paying about 970 every six months on my progressive term.
No problems with progressive but I've heard some horror stories from them. :|
That's with one speeding ticket.
I'm 26 (correction 27)

I have 21st century. I have been with them for about 5 years. They used to rock - someone always answered the phone when you called, the person wasn't a moron, the rates and service were good, etc.
Then they did that big ad campaign and everybody switched to them. Now you can't get anybody on the damn phone, even at like 11:30pm. When you do get someone on the phone, everyone gives you different information regarding costs and often times they'll goof up your quote.
Sadly, for me they're the cheapest. I was going to switch over to the company who does my homeowners insurance but the agent guy there just plain stopped calling me back. I don't know what I did to **** him off, but he can kiss my ***. I need to get around to switching to a new agent and potentially a new provider altogether.
