you cannot claim a kid unless it has a social security number. they don't get those till they're born. hens, you cannot claim the kid until you file for the year it was born.

and, if he don't marry the ho, only one of them can claim the kid, usually the one with primary custody.

edit: but don't get married cuz you get screwed by the irs. the spouse with the lower income is then subjected to the higher tax rate (and beyond) of the spouse earning more monies.

furley - your tax return will go up next year, you might want to change your witholdings...
That's okay, we made too much to get any benefit from claiming the nearly $7K in before/after school care. What good are deductions when they hamstring you?

that's why you do a flex spending account and have that monies deducted pre-tax. when you claim it on your return, you get at most 10% back, when you deduct it pre-tax it pays off better.

i'm maxed on ours, 5k per year. it works out to $192 per pay period, but the after-tax difference in my take home is like $105. doing it that way gives me almost $90 a pay period in free money (not really) toward daycare.

There's no way I'd stick with a bank that did something like that to me. Of course, I wouldn't go to BoA in the first place...

I had the same problem, but it was my tax preparer's fault.

Apparently there's like 15 digits you can use as the account number, and she slid my account number all the way to the right(ie 000000345235) when B of A actually uses the first 10 numbers, so it would have had to have been 3452350000000.
