you can find really cheap used ones on ebay. My friend bought a really nice used one, not dirty or anything for $50. Make sure it's up to standards with whatever auto event you're going to be doing though.

There are a couple places in Sac to get helmets (tognotti's is the only one that springs to mind at the moment) but the best deals are online. I got a great price on mine at www.racerwholesale.com
