Read this over on NorCal-LS1... thought it was pretty much Bull****....

About 5-6 yrs ago my grandparents, in their late 70s, were shopping at a Kmart in San Jose. After they had bought their goods they were walking out when apparently one of the Kmart security employees found out that someone was caught stealing. The security guard started running towards the door and while he was exiting the building he plows my grandma on the way and keeps going... thats right... I mean knocked her on her *** real bad. She was hurt extremely bad and was taken to the hospital.... few years later and over $60,000 in doctors bills she is still not right, as you would imagine.

Yes.. there was a lawsuit.. my grandmother filed a lawsuit against Kmart not that long after the incident. Since then my grandmother has started getting Alzheimers so my mother had to sit in the trial for my grandma. They didnt do the whole "McDonalds hot coffee" lawsuit and try for millions... no.. they decide to do what is fair, nothing extreme. We asked for $60,000 for Dr. bills, $60,000 in pain and suffering, and enough on top of that to pay for her lawyer. My mother went to trial today for my grandma.... jury trial.

Kmart PAID people to show up.. $3,500 per person to "tell their story" as they saw it that day, thats right, graciously paid story tellers. The "security guard" fully admitted to knocking my grandma on her *** that day.

Even after the Kmart employee admitted to doing it, even after the other Kmart employees fessing up to being paid $3,500 to show up and do their song and dance, even after explaining that my grandma was physically DAMAGED beyond repair....... the jury trial found Kmart NOT LIABLE for any bills, pain and suffering, or my grandmothers legal fees. Matter of fact.. since it swung that way my grandmother may now end up paying for KMARTS lawyer!!!

I am so ****ing heated right now... my mother was in tears as she told me what happened in court... she just doesnt understand how things happen like this. My mother said that even the bailif (sp?) and the judge were jaw dropped when the jury read the outcome. My mother and my grandmas lawyer caught up to a jurror as the flock of them literally JETTED after reading the outcome, gee I wonder why. The jurror said "It was an unfortunate event, your mother was injured extremely bad, and we feel bad for her but the employee was doing his job. Besides, the security guard was only 5'5 and 150lbs, he couldnt have hurt her that bad." WTF!!!????? My grandmother is 5'1" on a good day and is only about 115lbs!!!!

This kind of **** is what causes people to go postal... when the system ****s them in the *** and theres nothing you can do about it. Im at a complete loss.... I have no more faith in the majority of people these days. I swear to god Im glad I wasnt at the trial.... I may have lost my cool.

Sorry.. I had to get this off my chest.. I just found out about an hour ago

Anybody ever done any metal polishing?? I just got an APS tmic used, the paint is pretty bad (scratched, rubbed, stained) on it and I emailed APS about polishing it and they gave the o.k. Any ideas? Tools? Types of metal polish that work best? Certain levels of grit sandpaper to use?

Remove the rest of the paint, then try a bench mounted buffer.

Who has a bench mounted buffer? I was going to start with 80 grit, then 100 -> 150 -> 180 -> 240 -> 320 -> 400 -> 600 with a random orbit sander and by hand.
