I'm stressed out at work, too. Can I bring an exotic dancer to sit on my lap if she's properly house-trained?

If you were dishonest, you can take your dog anywhere.

It is illegal for people to ask you to prove that your dog is a real assistance dog...

I have always wanted to put my cat on a leash and take them around. Then when people ask, tell them he is a Listening-Ear cat.

the owner at the hotel i work at hates animals. hes the most stubborn mother ****er in the world. he makes sure they have proof or else theyre not checking in. he kicked some lady out a few months back because she had an "assistance dog" that looked like a dirty *** stray dog. a few weeks ago some guy came in with a chiwawa and said it was his assistance dog. wtf?? the only reasoning i can think of for an assitance dog is if the person is blind. and its bs that we cant ask for proof. im gonna walk into the grocerey store with my friends big *** pit and tell them its my "assistance dog"

The law is to prevent handicap people from being harrassed every time they go somewhere.

If you have a well behaved dog, that 'looks' like an assistance dog, I bet you could take him anywhere.... Since 99% of dogs aren't as composed as a companion dog, chances are you can get in trouble. Not sure what the penalty is for having a counterfeit companion dog.

If you dont like the owner of your hotel, let me know where you work. I'll pass it on to the MIL who is passionate about this law. One of these days he's going to call bS on someone genuine who knows the law, and next thing you know, they'll be living in his house, and he'll be mowing the lawns.

There are a lot of different types of assistance dogs. Some are for comfort, typically for special needs children and some adults. Some are to help out people in wheelchairs, with opening doors, reaching things, and moral support. There's a whole bigger world than just a seeing eye dog.

I recently went to a Canine Companions for Independence 'graduation'
It was really very eye opening as to what these dogs can do for people.

Oh also - You can't ask someone what their handicap is, either.
