Sac Area Cell Phone Poll!
Alright everyone, with 30ish days until I'm back in the states, I've been researching cell phones. Right now I'm looking at Sprint, because apparently they're the only one that has service worth a damn around the Beale AFB area.
I'm trying to get input on who has what, and how they like it. Good or bad comments, I think this could be a worthwhile resource for locals
What provider do you use? How do you like the service/coverage/etc.?
What phone do you have. Like/dislike?
Any other experiences/comments?
Thanks for your input

I use to work for sprint .. good phones coverage is spoty but that do to cell tower getting upgraded. good company if you don't have great credit as even if you mess up with them they will still have you back.
the Nextel deal is getting better too with them Sprint too.

I have Surewest... unlimited minutes are about $33 a month, unlimited text/pictures is a couple bucks.
they only have antique phones, but my motorola v710 works fine around here.
as much as i use my phone, its cheaper for me to have such a local phone, and roam when I'm out of the area.

Sprint, never had an issue with the coverage from San Diego to Portland.
I use an old Treo 600 and have had few problems with the phone that were not caused by me. I had to have one replaced, but I dropped it on the sidewalw with the headset plugged in. The headset jack got effed but the rest of the phone worked just fine.
The only other thing I want to tell you right now is that the cow you sucked on for the fresh milk a while back, well it wasn't a cow - it was a bull. At first I thought you were drunk, but then I realized that you love to chug bovine throat yogurt. The thought of that kinda made me throw up in my mouth a little, but like you and the bull spunk, I just swallowed it and went on with my day...

I have cingular and nextel.
I love cingular's coverage plus rollover mins are always a plus. Cingular has better coverage then before. Pretty close to Verizon. Plus I haven't had too many dropped calls (maybe 1 or 2. Cingular credits you for dropped calls)
Nextel has coverage all over the 5 and most of the 99. I have yet to be in an area where there is no nextel coverage. I think Beale would have good nextel coverage.
With cingular I've had ****ty reception when i used a motorolla phone.
Nokia has better reception and a cleaner sound.
With nextel it's been motorolla's (which aren't that bad) and blackberry's.
I love my blacberry but I don't like the size.

VZW. I haven't had a dropped call in over three years in the sacramento area.
I have the LG8100, it is a good phone, and stands up to abuse quite well. I've dropped this phone more times than I can count, and it hasn't had any issues.
Everybody I know has VZW, so I NEVER go over my minutes, which also helps.

Cingular: Service has gotten a lot better, less dropped calls than when they first merged with AT&T. They have good coverage too.
Motorola Razr: It's a good phone, but I can type faster than it can process, old phone could keep up with me, but it's a good phone and it's only $70 at Wal-Mart.

T-Mobile. I love the service. I've never gotten a "busy network" message like gay verizon. But the disadvantage to that is the lack of coverage. When i go eather pleasent valley or placerville i get 0 signal. I already had a phone so i just used that.
No negative experences at all. Even when i was overdue they called me and told me if i don't pay today that my service will be canceled. Unlike a lot of services out there they just cancel it and don't even call.
I completely forgot it was due, so i am glade i got that call
