Rio Americano Senior Killed In Crash
Michael Silver Killed Early Tuesday On Fair Oaks Boulevard

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A senior at Sacramento's Rio Americano High School was killed early Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash.
Authorities said Michael Silver, 18, was driving on Fair Oaks Boulevard at about 1 a.m., when his sport utility vehicle veered off the road and smashed into a tree near Wilhaggen Drive. The vehicle then burst into flames.
A cross has been erected in Silver's memory at the site of the crash.
"He's so young. Graduation is in two months. There's so much he hasn't gone through. It's really upsetting that this had to happen," friend Emma Kerss said.
"He was just such a great guy -- always had a smile on his face, was the life of the party, always smiling -- such an enthusiastic guy," friend Matt Malan said.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused Silver to lose control of his vehicle, but said early indications point to excessive speed.
"We are pretty sure he did die on impact and the vehicle did burst into flames -- that's typical of a high-speed, front-end impact," California Highway Patrol spokesman Max Hartley said.
Friends said Silver planned to attend Chico State University in the fall.
His funeral will be held Saturday.

wow he must have been moving!!!!! what part of Fair Oaks Blvd. was he on? that is one road I would not speed on. With all the blind curves and little critters running across the road its real easy to see how you could end up in a tree at 90+?
