Raw gas smell in the car 05 wrx wag

After leaving the gym yesterday I could not help but smell raw gas coming out of my vents. I figured its not a big deal as it'll eventually go away. I turned up the fan and i continously smelled it. eventually it got me sorta light headed and i just left the windows open and turned off the fan. I got home opened my open and i can seem to find any leaks anywhere.. I found that it smelled like fuel in around the motor as well.. anyone have this problem or have a fix to this?

No exhaust mods but axle back. This is installed awhile ago.

Had similar issues but it wasnt coming from the vents. Smelt it on the driver side when windows are down and turned out to be some really old cracked fuel lines (02 WRX). Hope it helps

05's had a fuel line recall? I had mine replaced at the dealership for free. Not sure if that is your issue or not. But worth a shot if it hasn't already been fixed.

This is something that happens to a lot of the WRX's, its a faulty fuel line under the manifold. normally this will only affect the 02-04 models i believe, not sure if the 05 too, but either way, Subaru has an extended warranty for this problem , so all you have to do is find a subaru dealership near you call and let them know whats going on and make an appointment , should be at no cost to you.

05s aren't affected in regards to the recall.

most likely it still is a cracked fuel line or bad o-ring at the injector and won't be warrantied. have someone track the leak down, would not suggest driving.

appreciate the input guys. as for driving it.. i can barely drive it without feeling nauseated. it just happened and wasn't like i did anything to crack it. Hopefully there is a recall on it. hate forking over cash when i didn't do anything to cause the problem.

there's no recall.

check under the turbo side coolant reservoir, under the intake manifold should be a fuel line with a clamp towards the back of the two runners, either could be leaking, that's the most likely culprit.

i don't have direct experience, i'd recommend you pm tofuman to take a look.

here are what the lines and connectors look like

was only able to tighten one of the screws hidden between the intake manifold on the turbo coolant reservoir side. the other one was upside down. anyways just found any of the screw clips along the fuel line and tightened them.

turned on the car and no more gas smell almost immediately...so thanks for all the help guys. I couldn't have done it with out yall.

keep monitoring it, there still may be cracks in the lines, stuff usually doesn't just come loose. i'd suggest do a cold start, turn it off real quick and check for gas. if you do it warm it could just evaporate and smell.

thats what i figured. but when I found the screw clamp in between the intake manifold i turned it easily about 6 turns. Anyways, of course i 'll keep monitoring it. no gas leaks that is for sure. thanks again
