power steering wining.

so for about the last 2 weeks (only on cold start up) my power steering pump will make a relatively loud wining sound. When i actually turn the wheel it gets louder... and after i'm all warmed up the sound goes away. My power steering fluid doesnt look bad in the least, no leaks, and no physical sign of damage. So next week i plan on doing a power steering service at work, if that doesnt work then i guess i'll be purchasing a pump (anyone got a used one for cheap?)
I'm getting a little irritated at all of the random little things that should not be going out before i even hit 70,000 miles, first it was one of my seals on my clutch master cylinder and now this...

this guy has a pump
FS: (For Sale) USDM STi intake manifolds, engine accessories, and a V7 Spec C twin scroll set up - NASIOC
keep browsing nasioc in the classifieds for one. these issues with our pumps always arise when the temps drop, the gaskets and o-rings don't like it.
you'll need a new banjo bolt and washer for it, here are the part numbers i used at subarugenuineparts (i'm not 100% certain they'll be the same parts for your car, but i assume so, if not go to the dealer): 34620AC010 (bolt) 34621AC023 (washer) for $10 shipped. you can use the dex VI atf fluid (synthetic) or something fancy like redline. i know paul has the redline in stock at the shop usually.

My power steering was also whining earlier last month. I'm not sure what exactly fixed it, but I tightened the pulley and added more fluid (it was just above the minimum mark). Hasn't made a sound since. I'm at just over 100K.

I had very similar problem, fixed it for 69 cents...
before you get new pump check that o-ring. You'll get access to it after unbolting 10mm bolt (circled red)

Id try the o-ring as well as bleeding the system of possibly air bubbles (have reservior open and car running, then turn wheel back and forth) will usually fix noise without replacing whole pump

^dresk -yes, this is slightly common for the pumps to have issues after some full-lock doughnuts (id also get under than car and check your cv boots if you've been out at praire)
