Noticing pinging in the STI if temperature is 70 degrees or over

I buy my gas at 76 and have been mixing the 91 with about 3 gallons of 100 octane to bring it closer to 93. I notice a power gain but it still pings when I give it WOT. It seems to happen between 3-4k rpms but I need to verify this. I thought the ecu would learn and pull the timing back which I believe is happening, but I can still make it ping. Anybody else experience this? I read that it was an issue with the earlier (2004) STis and they were reflashing ecus. I took it in to the dealer yesterday and they said they have no reflash for the 2006.

Sorry, I had to step away from my computer to help a coworker.

Anyway, I know its pinging because I'm all too familiar with the sound from my Audi (like someone throwing a marble into a tin can). It's probably just a normal amount and I'm just paranoid, but some people always say they have no pinging at all, which I find hard to believe.
