Mosquito Ridge Road 1/16/06

I ran into a couple of subies this morning and we decided to hit our favorite road. Folsom --> Salmon Falls Rd. -->HWY49 --> Old Foresthill Rd. --> Foresthill Rd. --> Mosquito Ridge Rd. I'm happy to report there was almost no one on Mosquito Ridge. We hit snow at about 18 miles in, which is pretty typical for this time of year.

Some pics:

We weren't going to get much further without more ground clearance and different tires.

I do not proclaim to be a photographer. All pics taken with my cheap Sony DSC-P10 5MP camera. Cale may have some better shots since he has a real camera.

nice drive!
was there any ice up there?
i'd be scared to hit black ice and sail off into the canyon.

let me guess...some of those swirly tire marks were layed by some AWD subies?

Let's just say it was quite easy for me to make the u-turn.

No ice, just snow for the last mile or so before we stopped. The rest of the road was clean. Even the mudslides and rockslides had been neatly pushed to the road's edge.
