Too bad our plane broke down a couple of minutes before we were going to back out of the gate (12:15 departure). We had to all get off so they could reboot the system (typical troubleshooting response ). That didn't work so they decided to replace the switch that was causing them problems. That didn't work so they decided to get us a new plane. But since we boarded a 737-700, we had to wait for another 737-700 to come in (some kind of FAA rule). In the meantime we got back on the plane to get all of our carry-on stuff. A few of the lucky ones got moved to the 2:25 Sacramento flight that had 15 seats open. We ended up leaving at 3:00 and were in line on the runway right behind the normally scheduled 3:00 Sacramento flight. So our 1:45 arrival time turned into a 4:45 arrival time.
But other than that, I had a blast. It was a ncie surprise for my birthday. As I was getting ready for work Friday morning, Terri told me I wasn't going in and I started arguing with her telling her I had this and that to do. She finally told me she had already talked to my boss and everything was fine. I didn't know where we were going until I got my boarding pass. I had never been to San Diego before and I really enjoyed it. We hund out in the gas lamp district and did some shopping and a lot of walking around the downtown area. Next time we go, we'll hit Seaworld and the zoo.
