CEL is an auto fail smog.. Occifer might decide he wants to give you a poke if he's paying attention to the car.. Otherwise from what I understand it just registers as a failed smog..

Not sure when. I drove through at 7ish and traffic was blocked at the mall parking lot out to Madison, had to detour around, but there were no controls or officers directing people anywhere. Was in my wagon so maybe I got lucky?

They closed Sunrise out by the mall because of the bank robbery/shooting. Maybe that's the detour you got stuck in?

Yep.

That's why I was wondering about the smog checkpoint in the same area on the same night - I didn't see anything.

CHPD makes Sunrise a rolling "smog" stop from end to end anyways.
