That was Monticello Dam. You probably turned around near Markley Cove. That's about 4 miles down the road. You could have ridden that all the way down to Lake Solano then taken Plesants Valley down to Fairfield.

Glad to see people are discovering the good roads that are out in these hills, not all near Folsom and crap

I turned around a little bit after some market/tourist information area with a boat launch. actually, I think I went a ways past that

Markley Cove is the last launch ramp before Monticello, from the way you were coming. I wouldn't doubt it if u turned around in one of the many turn offs between there and the dam.
