I have a feeling Ed just tuned around it, could be wrong.
And I know a few well known tuners that charge 150-250 so 175 is about average. To me at least
How long did it take to perfect the idle on those suckers if you remember? I've tuned a few 850's cars but never PE's. Can't imagine it being much different than norm but who knows.

he charged me 175 for a quick tune. after the compression test they determined it wouldnt be smart to do a full tune because i was likely i have already blown the rings on my #4. but ed and all his guys and even vladi couldnt figure out why my car was running so weird. so ed took it out for like 30min or so and tuned it the best he could. my clutch was going out so which didnt make it easy. so for that they charged me 175. he said he couldnt figure out what was wrong with it, but at least it was more consistent. changing the maf helped alot. but other than that its a mystery! but it sure does run so so so much better than before. so ya i know it was 100 for the compression and 100 for the boost leak down and 175 for the quick tune. just to get me by. and i assume the rest was for ed and all his guys going through my motor and analyzing my ecu to try to figure what was up that hole day.

ya they didnt find any leaks. but i told them that we went through my car and checked everything and found that leak and fixed it. but they said it was safe to do a boost leak down just to make sure. so i trusted there advice. im waiting for ed to chime in on this lol

Why on earth would you get a suspected blown engine tuned?
You assume?
What does the estimate (the document that you, the consumer, are entitled to before any work begins) state on it?

Car Info: This aint a bag. It's a shipment.
I don't remember it being too big of a deal. Just did the math to get a starting point for the scale. Then tweak the latency and scale over many many commutes. The biggest headache is the tip-in.

Silas's car came in running extremely poorly with a/f trims all over the place. We spent time diagnosing it and discovered that the MAF was part of the problem. The compression test also showed a potential problem... Not neceserily a broken piston, but the compression numbers were significantly out of spec.
After consulting with Silas, we decided it was best to just get the car safe and drivable for now so he can decide what to do. We swapped out the MAF and I put a base map on the car and took it out for some minor adjustments. After a couple pulls, the clutch started slipping badly, so I left the tune at that until the clutch gets replaced. I spent about an hour playing with the tune to get the car driving safely and this is what I charges $175
for. I'll review his invoice but I believe the only other charge on it is for the general diagnostics labor for diagnosing the issues.
He was treated fairly considering the condition of the car and we did everything possible to get it running as well as possible given the issues and his budget.
BTW... How did this thread turn into an inquisition? Paul, maybe you should focus on your own customers and tunes a bit more instead of trying to start drama with a competing shop.

You're getting a little defensive, Ed.
No inquisition, but when a person states that they don't really know what they have paid for, it raises further questions.
Such as:
Silas claims/suspects that his engine has cracked ring lands?
How did you, Silas, come to this conclusion?
If true, why would you, Ed, tune his car?
Personally, I see no benefit in tuning a broken engine.
