Like cats, but allergic?

Scientists have devised an allergen-free cat - for a price. $3500. For that sort of change, I want them available in colors like Aspen White, WRB, and Sonic Yellow.

I think that genetic engineering of cats is a bad idea. Next, someone will want to produce a domestic cat that is clawless, or that has no whiskers, or that can't meow. If people don't like cats the way they are, they shouldn't have cats. Selective breeding is fine for those who want something different in the way of domestic cats (and dogs) but don't remove the things that make them unique as cats.

"In August, Genetic Savings & Clone -- another Californian company -- announced that it had successfully cloned two kittens from a one-year-old female Bengal cat and said it could clone anyone's pet for around $50,000."

We always wanted to do this for Turbo, we just didnt think he would be leaving us so soon

Appearance might not be the most important thing in a clone of a beloved pet - if the cat could have the same personality, that would be a higher priority for me.

The problem is that what makes cats unique in the domestic pet world is that even cats born of the same litter can look and act very differently from each other, maybe more so than identical twins in humans.

All this may be overly skeptical of the cloning results just from media reports but it would be disappointing if a Turbo clone didn't act like Turbo (but of course I couldn't be sure of the results ).

Here are some of the problems another company found when they produced the first cloned kitten.

Doggone it - I knew you were gonna reply with something like that!

You can still get a cat - they have shots that you can take in conjunction with medication.

You've obviously never heard of cat painting, it's real.
