The iPhone is fun to look at, but if you actually plan on using the phone for more then just browsing the internet... That phone is laughable at best...

I really don't need to use MicroStation or Soildworks or any 3D modeling programs for schematics and routing plans. Besides that, my client, who pays me very well by the way, maintains all drawings in AutoCAD.

Thanks for your help, guys. We're going to hit the cingular store tomorrow night. We met up with a guy there last month who was very helpful so we'll also take his input. Right now though, I think we're going to go with the Blackberry, either the Pearl or the Curve. But I could be completely wrong - I told her I would solicit the opinion of my local SRIC brethren as you guys know your stuff when it comes to phones, but in the end, it will be what she is most happy with.

Thanks

+1. There are no other options in Civil.

If she doesn't mind the bulk, the Curve is easier to use for responding to e-mails and whatnot over the Pearl.

i'm just messing around... we use autocad all the time for things that don't require solids. ALL our wiring and schematics are autocad, and we use it a lot for figuring out geometry because sometimes it's just plain easier to sketch it out first and then go solid. we also use it for proposals since it's easier to re-arrainge everything on a tight deadline. part of my bitterness toward it is that we're stuck with r14 at work, and i've had a taste of '06+. soooooooo much better.

have you guys tried copying an excel table and pasting it in newer versions of cad?

to be honest with you, we use pro/e at work and everyone else i know that does solids modeling are solidworks fanboi's and i hear about how it's bettAr all the time
